The tsunami debris will soon be accepted by the Saitama Prefecture. The Saitama Prefecture is planning to accept the debris from Iwate Prefecture for disposal which will begin from September 6, 2012.

On August 29, 2012 Saitama Gov Kiyoshi Ueda said that the Prefecture will accept about 10,000 tons of mainly wood debris from the town of Noda. Three cement factories and Kumagaya and other cities will be using the ashes from the incinerated debris. Ueda also assured that the debris will be first checked for radiation before it is transported from Iwate. Kiyoshi also said that only debris measuring less than 100 becquerels per kilogram will be accepted.
