Police detains more than 20 people for violence in East Delhi

The police have detained more than 20 people for the violence that broke out in East Delhi on September 3, 2012. A case of rioting and arson has been registered against them.

The police has said that the situation is now under control. The situation had worsened when one person was killed and many others were injured after a mob went on a rampage after two men on a two wheeler were injured when the police had tried to stop them.

The police had fired at a mob that killed one person and injured 15 others which included policemen. The protestors had set fire at the police booth a DTC bus and many other vehicles in Mayur Vihar phase III, according to the police and the witnesses.

However the police refused to say if the man was killed in the police firing, while the residents insisted that he has been killed. The police explained that the bike with two people on it was stopped at the check point for not wearing helmet. The men on the two wheeler were drunk and fled when the police tried to stop them. The police also revealed that they also indulged in an argument with the police.
