On September 25, 2012 the foreign minister of China and Japan held stern talks on the disputed islands, but the diplomats said that no breakthrough was made. Yang Jiechi the foreign minister of China ad accused Japan of committing a gross violation of China’s territorial integrity during the meeting.

Koichiro Gemba, the Foreign Minister of Japan said that there was a severe atmosphere for the talks which lasted for about one hour on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
