AsiaBizz.com: Shinzo Abe, the newly elected opposition Liberal Democratic Party leader visited the Fukushima Prefecture on October 3, 2012. The leader promised the residents that people who have been forced to leave their homes would get assistance if the LDP wins the general elections later this year.

The residents of Fukushima were forced to leave their homes due to the March 11, 2011 tsunami and earthquake disaster. Abe visited Fukushima after Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda visited the place on September 30, 2012.

On Wednesday morning, Abe visited Soma City and also met the residents who are currently living in temporary houses. The leader also told a group of people that the ruling Democratic Party of Japan failed to provide them assistance to help them return to normal life following the disastrous tsunami which killed thousands of people.
