In a deadly and unfortunate incident, about 20 school children were gunned down by a heavily armed gunman in the US. The gunman opened fire at a suburban elementary school in Connecticut on December 14, 2012, which resulted in one of the worst mass-shootings in the history of the United States of America.

Media reports claimed that the gunman was heavily armed with four weapons and wore a bullet proof vest, he was found dead inside Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Lieutenant Paul Vance said in a press conference that the authorities have found about 18 children and seven adults, including the gunman, dead inside the school.

Two out of these children were pronounced dead after they were taken to hospital. Vance also said that another adult was found dead at a related crime scene in Newtown, which brought the toll 28. President Barack Obama said in a emotional televised address to the nation, “Our hearts are broken today”.

The shooter has been identified as Adam Lanza, who is 20 years old. The brother of Adam is either in custody or is being questioned. This is the second shooting rampage in the US this week and the latest in a series of mass killings in 2012.
