US-based tech giant Apple is all set to launch its Apple TV in the Indian market. Reports say that the device is expected to be priced at Rs. 6,990 and will be available in the country by the end of December, 2012.

There are predictions that the company is venturing into the TV market, but not many might be aware that basically the digital media receiver is developed and sold by a company called Cupertino. With the new Apple TV, users can play content from iTunes and YouTube in up to 1080p high definition.

Content from Netflix and Hulu Plus is also offered in countries like the US, but it might not be available in India. In order to use the device a user can just login to the existing TV sets and find movies, TV shows, music, pictures among other things.

The device is powered by Apple’s single core A5 chip which has Wi-Fi so that it can turn a normal TV in to a smart-TV. The device also has the AirPlay feature, through which the users can wirelessly stream content from their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch on their TV’s. Users can also store their content on iCloud, which can be played anywhere.
