The competition in the phone and tablet market has been heating up all over the world. Now Micromax is pushing further into the market with the announcement of its phablet called the Canvas HD (A116). The new phablet is the latest addition to the phone company’s Canvas series and is scheduled to be launched in February 2013.
The Canvas HD will cost less than Rs 15,000 and will run on the Android Jelly Bean platform. This is also the first phablet from Micromax to feature a quad-core processor, something that will catch the eye of many, specially considering the price bracket within which the device sits. MediaTek has manufactured the processor for the phone and according to them it does not consume much power, which means that the battery life will last longer.
Apart from a good processor, the device will also have a 5-inch display, which will support a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The Canvas HD will have a 2,100 mAh battery, which will allow for a longer standby period than many devices in the same price range.
In terms of memory, a micro SD card can be used to expand the 4 GB internal memory to 32 GB, which is fairly standard for most hand-held devices. It also features an 8-megapixel camera, which has 4 x zoom and autofocus, to go along with an LED flash. This is definitely one of the selling points of the new Canvas HD.
