Indian electronics giant Micromax has announced on its official website that its A116 Canvas HD will soon be launched. The message said that the new quad-core 5-inch budget smartphone will be made available to its customers beginning Valentines Day, on February 14, 2013.


However, the company is yet to reveal the pricing for the device. Micromax, during the launch event, said that the Canvas HD will be priced below Rs. 15,000. The information which has been provided on its official website is not clickable and is just a simple banner.

It can be said that the new Canvas HD has a host of features. It has a 5-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution, 1.2 GHz quad-core Media Tek MT 6589 processor, with 1 GB of RAM associated with it. The new A116 also has dual-SIM capabilities and features 4 GB inbuilt storage capabilities, which can be expandable up to 32 GB with the help of a micro-SD card.

The device also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera for video chatting. Apart from Micromax, the Chinese manufacturer Jiayu plans on launching three new smartphones for the Indian market, which will be priced between Rs. 3,000, Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 9,000.
