Another incident of rape, this time of a 5-year-old girl in Delhi, has triggered protests in the eastern part of India’s capital.  The victim was raped by a neighbour in Gandhi Nagar, who had held her captive for four days .

At present, the victim is battling for her life in a hospital in the capital. The accused sexually assaulted her, which resulted in serious injuries to the child’s private parts. Several people gathered outside the hospital where the girl is currently undergoing treatment.

The doctors treating the girl said that her grievous injuries have resulted in serious infection. It was also revealed that the condition of the girl is very critical and that some foreign objects have also been found inside her. Initially, the family of the victim were reluctant on filing a case and had also acted late in locating her.

The accused is absconding, but he was living on the ground floor of the building where the girl also lived. The mother of the victim said that she was playing outside when she was kidnapped and was then locked in a room. One senior police official said that the girl was already in bad shape when she was rescued from the flat.
