The 5-year-old girl was brutally raped by a neighbour and was held captive for two days and starved. The girl has contracted infection from foreign objects inserted into her body. At present, the victim is being treated at AIIMS and is stable and conscious.

The rapist has been identified as Manoj Kumar, who is 25 years old and was arrested from Chiknauta village, under the Karza police station in Muzaffarpur, which is about 70 kms from the city. A police official said, “After he was arrested, Manoj Kumar was produced in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Muzaffarpur and the court granted a three-day transit remand to Delhi Police”.

Protests broke out outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Police Headquarters on Saturday, while demanding justice for the victim who received severe injuries on her private parts and is fighting for her life due to an infection. The protesters are also demanding action against police officers who did not help to locate the girl, even though she went missing on April 15, 2013.
