The 15-year-old Gayatri Ketharaman has won the Doodle4Google contest in India in 2013. Ketharaman is from Pune and she drew a doodle with the title ‘Sky’s The Limit for Indian Women’. The winning Doodle will be featured on the homepage of Google India on November 14, 2013, which marks the Children’s Day.

Every year, the search engine giant holds the contest in India on a particular theme and the winning entry is then featured on the homepage on Children’s Day. In 2013, the theme was ‘Celebrating Indian Women’. Rajan Anandan, the managing director of Google India said that the company received more than 1.5 lakh entries in 2013.

The winner for 2013, Gayatri is a student of class 10 at Bishop’s Co-Ed School in Pune and she has been participating in the contest for four years already. In 2011, Ketharaman was very close to winning the contest, as her work was among the shortlisted entries, but in 2013 she finally succeeded and won the contest. Gayatri said, “It took me around a week to complete the doodle once I started working on it. But before that I spent several weeks thinking about the theme and how best I can represent the ideas I had in my mind about Indian women”.

The search engine giant often features Doodles on its homepage to mark important holidays or historical events.
