Asia Bizz: Toyota is all set to invest in a system that allows wireless charging of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. This system will make sure that the batteries of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are charged without the use of any plugs. This will be a system that is totally wireless.

In order to achieve this mode of battery charging, Toyota, the Japanese automaker will collaborate with US company called WiTricity Corp and is aiming at making investments in the company. Toyota is looking forward to wireless charging systems for electric vehicles for practical use within the next 10 years.

WiTricity has patents to use technology that help transmit electricity wireless to a device that is meters away. Toyota believes that this technology can be use to charge the batteries of vehicles as well.

Toyota believes that this technology can be used very well in parking lots in order to charge batteries of vehicles and all of this done wireless.

Toyota is also aiming at many investments as wel as tieups with regard to the next generation. The company has also tied up with companies like U.S. EV venture Tesla Motors Inc and Microsoft Corp.
