Asia Bizz: The city of Hyderabad, which is now on its way to become the emerging hub of the IT industry in India, is reportedly planning to host the Internet Corporation for Assigned Name and Numbers (ICANN) Conference in India. The conference is expected to be held in the Asia-Pacific region in the year 2013.

ICANN is a non- profit organization which has the responsibility to manage Domain Name Systems, so as to protect the uniqueness of the web addresses. Apart from looking after the distribution of the unique internet protocol addresses and domain names, the organization also helps to ensure that every domain name is mapped to the correct IP address.

Ponnala Lakshmaiah, the Minister for IT and Communications in the state of Andhra Pradesh, was recently approached by some of the senior official of the ICANN Conference organizing committee and informed him that the event will be held from April 7 to 12 in the year 2013. The information on the developments was given by some of the officials who did not want to be identified.

The official added that Hyderabad is already known as the conventional capital of the country and is also a unique destination in comparison to other cities in India.
