Maruti Suzuki, the biggest manufacturer of small cars in the country, is all set tolaunch the latest toy from its stable, the Maruti Cervo. Although no exact date of the launch of the Maruti Cervo has yet been given out, a tentative date for the Maruti Cervo launch in India has been set at sometime around the months of May or June 2010.
Cervo is a five door car, with an extremely sleek look, at an economical price. It is speculated that Maruti Cervo would be between 1.5 to 2. It is also speculated that Maruti Cervo will be the fastest carin India.
The Cervo is a five-door hatchback model and has a 0.7L, 660cc petrol engine. Maruti claims this engine can produce 60bhp power. The main reason analysts expect Cervo to do well is because consumers will want to comply with the mandatory fuel-efficiency norms that are due to come into effect in 2011.
The Indian government is set to amend the Motor Vehicles Act, which will set energy efficiency norms, which will be similar to the Star ratings introduced by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency for electrical appliances.
