Rahul Khullar, TRAI Chairman said, “On national roaming, the consultation has been completed, the authority is in the process of formulating its final rules before it takes a decision in 10-15 days”. Sources from the industry claim that the national roaming is proposed to be done through a special tariff vouchers.

This means roaming will not exactly be free, but it will definitely bring down roaming prices. The National Telecom Policy, 2012 aims to abolish roaming charges and allow mobile phone subscribers to use the same number across the country, without having to pay any extra charges for the services after they have gone out of their telecom circle.

Kapil Sibal, Telecom Minister, said that the government will try to begin the free national roaming for customers before October 2013. Back in December 2012, TRAI had floated a pre-consultation paper while seeking inputs from the stakeholders on tariff for national roaming services.

The new compact SUV will be offered in three engine options and four trim levels, which will be a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and the much-talked-about 1-litre EcoBoost petrol. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will be offered by the company with a 6-speed automatic option and will be sold in high-end trims.

With the Appstore, customers will also have access to features like Free App Of The Day, that offers a paid app for free every day. Amazon released a press statement which said that the store is bringing back one of its free Apps of the Day, Fruit Ninja and Cut The Rope: Experiments.

These two apps will be available for free on May 23 and May 24, 2013, respectively. The store can be visited through the link www.amazon.com/appstore. The recent announcement is part of the company’s global expansion, which includes Germany, UK, France, Spain, Italy, China and Japan. In the upcoming months, the Appstore will also come to Brazil. In April, 2013, Amazon also announced its expansion in more countries, such as South Korea, India, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Vatican City.

The issue of reducing flight delays in Xiamen, Fujian province was discussed at a conference on May 22, 2013, by Xia Xinghua, deputy director of the administration. The airlines have also been urged by the CAAC to reduce the number of delays that can be avoided by ten percent by the end of 2013. Airports have to be strict enough to maintain that at least 90 percent of their flights leave on time, or they will not be allowed to expand their operations.

After the conference, a statement was released saying that the CAAC has taken ample measures to improve the punctuality, but it is still far from meeting the public’s expectations. Nissan will be recalling certain models of the Micro compact car that were produced in Britain between the year 2002 and 2006. The company is also recalling the Cube that was produced in Japan around the same time. Nissan is pulling back the vehicles from the countries like Japan, Asia, Europe, Oceania, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. The vehicles have been recalled as the bolt used in the steering wheel of the cars might not have been fixed properly.

The worst outcome of this issue is that the steering wheel might not function properly. The information about the recall was given by the company in a statement that was filed to the Japanese transport ministry. Noriko Yoneyama, spokesperson for Nissan said that so far, no injuries, deaths or accidents have been reported and that the company will fix the problem as soon as possible.

Nissan will be fixing the glitch by either tightening the bolt or replacing the steering wheel with a new one. The repair work is expected to take about 40 minutes and the company refused to comment on how much it will cost them.

After its launch in 2012, the Galaxy S III reached a ten million mark in just 50 days. A plan was released by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform on May 7, 2013, after which the base fare will go up from 10 yuan to 13 yuan for the first 3 km. Later on, the rate per km after the first 3 km will increase to either 2.3 yuan or 2.6 yuan from the current 2 yuan. The new plan will be discussed at the meeting at 2:30pm in Beijing on May 23, 2013, where ten customers will be represented.

Right now, Beijing taxis add a 1- to 3-yuan fuel surcharge for trips which are over 3 km. However, the amount of surcharge will vary according to the current fuel prices. The new plan says that the surcharge will be fixed at 1 yuan.

Due to this new plan, Beijing taxi drivers will be encouraged to get to work in the morning and evening rush hours. Even the waiting charge during traffic jams will be increased to 2 km per five minutes, from the current 1 km per five minutes.

Apple released a statement which said that the devices which use its latest mobile operating system iOS can now be used on the US Department of Defense its networks. The Department of Justice and the NSA considered the iOS encryption as virtually impenetrable recently, but the Department of Defense was yet to take the notice of it.

Pentagon has approved the Apple devices to be used on its network. This development came about two weeks after the approval of BlackBerry 10 devices and Samsung Galaxy S4 using knox security solution. In the past, BlackBerry was a popular device and got its privilege to be used by the government and big businesses due to high level of security on its devices. Unfortunately, Apple and Android were not able to pass the security test in the past.

However, in 2013, both Samsung and Apple were able to break that barrier and are ready to compete in the US military.

The China Food and Drug Administration said that it will run a nationwide campaign starting from May 2013 until September 2013, against illegal production, promotion and sales of health food. This recent move will be the first campaign since the newly-formed administration started working in March 2013.

It also integrated the monitoring functions of many government organs and became a ministerial level-agency that will help to improve food and drug safety. The spokesperson for the administration, Yan Jiangying, said in a press conference that the consumption of health food or dietary supplements has increased rapidly in recent years.

Since the end of 2012, about 2,006 companies were engaged in health and food business, which reported total revenues of 280 billion yuan. Yan also said that illegal activities are common and rampant in the sector, including the use of illegal additives in dieting supplements. This campaign will also be the first in the series of campaigns to be conducted by the CFDA in order to improve food safety.

During the past week, a series of threats led to disruption in scheduled flights and airport operations. In two recent cases of multiple bomb threats that targeted civilian flights, suspects have been apprehended. The Ministry said that the public security departments must use legal weapons to handle such offenses in a heavier, as well as faster way. It was also added that the offenders must be treated as criminal offenders, instead of being punished with administrative detention.

On May 17, 2013, between 5:22 pm and 5:25 pm, the police in Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tianjin received phone calls which  claimed the bombs have been placed on airplanes bound for Shanghai.

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, the police detained a 43-year-old man, who confessed that he made fake bomb threats. On May 15, 2013, bomb threats were also made against three Chinese airlines, which affected five flights to Shenzen, Guangdong province.
