Gaurav Bhaskar, a spokesperson from Google India, said that material from the India search results, Blogger, YouTube and the social networking site Orkut was blocked. The content was deleted from the domains .in and .Co.in, while it will remain accessible from other countries.

Bhaskar added that Google cannot take down the content that appears on the websites owned by the other companies and individuals. The government of India is now stepping towards the scrutiny of internet postings as well as mobile communications as it tries to eliminate provocative comments.

The company in a statement said that they believe that the access to information is the foundation of a free and prosperous society. The statement further added that where the content is illegal or breaks the terms of their terms of service, they will continue to remove it. Bhaskar also said that the deletion from Google is in accordance with the company’s policy of disabling illegal content on its property to comply with the local laws. The next hearings will be held on February 14 and 15.

Asia Bizz: As per earlier reports, there was a need for the Indian government to tackle radiation problems in the mobile phones. The Delhi government has already taken some initiation with the introduction of radiation tags on mobile phones.

The country is getting stricter on the mobile phone radiation regulation scenario. From September 1, 2012 onwards mobile phone companies in India can expect rigorous checks on the electromagnetic radiations that are emitted by the mobile phones.

The mobile phone manufacturers need to comply with SAR regulations during the manufacturing of the handsets. The regulations of the SAR are essential to follow so that it does not adversely affect human health.

It has been noticed that many of the manufacturers have not taken the norm seriously and it has become essential to reform the existing rules. At present, SAR also known as the Specific Absorption Rate level for mobiles, is less than 1.6 watt per KG for six minutes, over a volume containing a mass of 1 gram of human tissue. The new rules will be according to the lines adopted by the US and the European nations. As a part of the new reform, all the handsets that are manufactured or imported will be first checked for its compliance to the SAR.

Asia Bizz: India’s HRD minister Kapil Sibal announced on February 6, 2012 that the low cost Aakash tablet PC will be made indigenously and its production base diversified. At a function, Sibal said that the government is going to diversify production base of the Aakash tablet.

The HRD minister also assured that they are planning to create an eco-system for the end to end development of Aakash in the country. Sibal added that this is expected to create enormous opportunities for the R&D institutions, electronic production houses and developers.

At present, the IITs and the ITIs are onboard on the development of the device. The Aakash tablet has so far reached a few of the students. Earlier the HRD ministry said that the Indian government will be requiring 22 crores of the devices and for this reason, fresh tenders will be issued so as to give opportunities to the other companies other than Datawind.

The device is currently available for Rs 1,500 after government subsidy. When asked if the next tender will have the ‘Made in India’ clause in it, Sibal said that the Indian government has to first make sure that it s 100 percent done locally. Right now many of the components including the processor are procured from outside Inda.

Asia Bizz: The Volkswagen Group is now looking to double the component sourcing from India. Michael Perschke, the head of Audi India said that the Volkswagen Group is not looking forward to increase the component sourcing from the country.

This has indicated an expense of $924 for the current year. Audi India is looking forward to launch multiple cars in the country and is also planning to expand its dealership in the year 2012.

The Volkswagen Group has acknowledged that the cost effective manufacturing will also find strength in the component sourcing from the country. The group is also planning towards investments in new plants.

At present, the Volkswagen Group sources components from the country which includes crankshafts for the vehicles of their VW Skoda and Audi marquees. Perschke added that their expectations are to increase their global sourcing out of India in the long run. The Audi India head also said that in terms of cost competitiveness, the country has a strategic advantage. Earlier the company said that they have marked a 39% sales growth for the month of January 2012 as they sold 667 luxury cars. For the current year, the company has an aim to sell 8,000 cars which would mark a growth of about 50%.

Google India said that it has removed certain web pages from the internet on which the objections were raised by the petitioners. On the other hand, Yahoo, Facebook and Microsoft told the court that they do not have any role in the case and that there is no cause of action against them.

Praveen Singh the Additional Civil Judge asked the counsel appearing for the petitioner Mufti Aijaz Arshad Qasmi , if the service providing companies can be made a party to the case for the content posted by the users on the blogs. The court also heard the petition on 12:30 pm today and also asked Google, why they were not able to come up with a proper reply.

The court also alleged that after all that happened in the past months, the search engine giant had to be prepared. The petitioner has also been asked by the court to supply the copies of all the documents relied upon to all the opposite parties.
