Shahrukh Khan demands apology for Wankhede Stadium issue

After reports of Shahrukh Khan’s misbehaviour with the officials of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the actor on May 17, 2012 clarified and denied the reports that he was drunk and misbehaved with the officials. Khan even said that he deserves an apology.

The ‘Don’ actor alleged that the staff on Wednesday at the stadium was high handed and that they misbehaved with his children which included little girls. Shahrukh even said that it won’t change his life if he was not allowed to enter the stadium.

The actor even admitted that he was abusing them as he was insulted. Shahrukh said that he will not deny the fact that he abused but was provoked when someone abused him in Marathi.

On May 17, 2012 the actor faced a lifetime ban from entering the Wankhede Stadium after he allegedly appeared drunk at the ground and misbehaved with the security guards and cricket officials. The incident took place after the actor’s team Kolkata Knight Riders beat the Mumbai Indians at the Indian Premiere League match. Shahrukh and his entire team wanted to celebrate the win after the presentation ceremony but he was not allowed to do so. The MCA president, Vilasrao Deshmukh said that he has called for an urgent meeting where the matter shall be discussed.

Air India pilots enter tenth day of agitation, Rs. 188 crores loss reported

The striking pilots of the National airlines Air India have on May 17, 2012 entered in to the tenth day of protest. With the continuation of the agitation between the pilots and the management, the carrier has reported losses of Rs. 188 crores.

A senior official from the Air India’s operation arms said, “We are currently operating under the contingency plan, in which we are operating a bare minimum number of international operations by clubbing flights to destinations in Europe and the US”. The official also revealed that the cancellations of tickets has caused a loss of Rs.188 crores.

The airbus family of aircraft like the A320, A321 and A330 have been deployed by the airline for the international routes. Just eight of its 17 Boeing 777 aircraft belong to the Indian Pilot’s Guild and are normally handled by the pilots who are striking.

Meanwhile, the low cost international wing, Air India Express is also facing the brunt of agitation. The never ending strikes and cancellation has disrupted the holiday and other travel plans of hundreds of passengers. A few days back, the agitation seemed to weaken as some of the pilots returned to work and the management said that it expected more to follow.

Go Tech launched two affordable tablets for Indian market

To add more competition to the already flourishing tablet market, Go Tech Digital Pvt Ltd has on May 17, 2012 launched its two affordable Android based tablets. The company has launched Funtab Fusion and Fonetab for the Indian market.

Go Tech with the launch of the new tablets aims to sell at least 10,000 of the two new devices in the next quarter. The new Funtab fusion has been priced at Rs. 3,999, while the Fonetab which comes with an additional SIM slot has been priced at Rs. 6,999.

For the marketing the company has targeted tier 2 and tier 3 cities for its products. Go Tech is also in talks with the corporates and educational institutes for selling the devices.

Gaurav Khanna, the managing director of GO Tech while unveiling the tablets said, “We are very happy to launch two new tablet PCs which are designed keeping youth in mind. Fun and education are two important aspect of a youth’s life; and with this launch we have tried to meet their experience.” The Funtab Fusion has a 7 inch capacitive screen with dual touch facility. The device has been powered by 800 MHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Railways temporarily cancel train services for renovation work

From May 14, to June 16, the Railways has cancelled and shirt terminated certain trains for some major re-modelling and modernization work at the Khurda Road Yard. The non-interlocking work has been taken up by the East Coast Railways which will affect the movement of certain trains.

The passenger train Bhadrak – Dhanmandal – Bhubaneshwar – Bhadrak and 78411/78412 Bhubaneshwar – Khalikote – Bhubaneshwar passenger will be cancelled on May 20, 27 and June 2, 9, and 10 in both the directions. Even the Bhubaneshwar – Balugaon – Palasa – Bhubaneshwar passenger train will remain cancelled on May 20, 27, and June 2, 9 and 10 in both directions.

Meanwhile the Bhubaneshwar – Vishakhapatnam – Bhubaneshwar Intercity express will be short terminated and will be operated between Palasa –Vishakhapatnam – Palasa from May 18 to June 16 and will be cancelled between Bhubaneshwar and Palasa.

The are also a few more trains which will be short terminated during this period. The Santragachhi – Puri – Santragachhi will run between Santragachhi and Kapilas Road but will be cancelled between Puri and Kapilasa Road on May 17 to June 16. The similar schedule has been set for Rourkela – Puri – Rourkela passenger train and Khurda Road – Kharagpur passenger which will run between Kharagpur and Bhubaneshwar but will be cancelled between Bhubaneshwar and Khurda Road.

Mahindra and Mahindra launches AC version of jeep Thar

Indian auto giant Mahindra and Mahindra has on May 15, launched the air conditioned version of its jeep Thar in the four wheel drive segment. The new air conditioned Thar has been priced at Rs. 6.75 lakh.

The company had till now refrained from fitting an air conditioner in an off-roader jeep. Vivek Nayar, the senior marketing vice-president of the company said, that M&M decided to install it after the customer feedback, where people felt the necessity of an air conditioner in a jeep.

The new model has been priced from Rs. 6.75 lakh and upwards and the model is Bharat Stage IV compliant. The Thar has been fitted with a factory fitted air conditioner/heater which will help in handling the harsh summer as well as the biting winter of the country.

The jeep will also come with a digital immobiliser, which will be an added safety feature on the A/C trim version. During the launch M&M also unveiled the Thar Expedition, which is a customised version of the AC Thar which can withstand in almost any terrain. The off-road spec model boasts specialized fittings like the custom made front bulbar, rock sliders, expedition carrier, roll cage and integrated electric winch.
