Honda launches Dream Yuga for Indian market

Two-wheeler manufacturing giant Honda has on May 15, 2012 launched its mass segment motorcycle ‘Dream Yuga’ in the Indian market. The new second mass segment bike has been priced at Rs.44, 642 ex-showroom price Delhi.

Honda Motor Cycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has also announced that they will soon be roping in the Bollywood super star Akshay Kumar as the brand ambassador of the company. Keita Muramatsu, the HMSI president said, “Honda retained the brand Dream as part of a global strategy that was first launched in 1949. This new bike is very economical with better mileage”.

The new Dream Yuga bike has a 110 cc engine. Honda already sells the CB Twister in the country in the country.
Last year the company sold 21.07 lakh motorcycles in the Indian market and is now aiming to sell 27.5 lakh units in 2012-13.

The engine is paired with four speed transmission and makes 9 bhp of power with 0.91 kgm of peak torque. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, the operating head of sales and marketing at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter said, “We want to sincerely increase our market share in India. We need mass-market products to do that. Our ambition is to be number one in market share by 2020″. The official announcement of Akshay being the brand ambassador is yet to be announced.

Honda announces technology to detect traffic congestion

Japanese Automobile manufacturer, Honda Motors Co has announced the successful development of the world’s first technology which will help in the detection of traffic congestion. The new technology will also help in determining whether the driving pattern of the vehicle is likely to create traffic jams.

The company said that it developed the technology due to the acceleration and deceleration behaviour of one vehicle influences the traffic pattern of the trailing vehicles which can also trigger the traffic congestion. Honda conducted a experimental testing of the system which utilizes the technology to detect the potential for traffic congestion.

The test was conducted in collaboration with the Research Centre for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo. The test results mentioned that the system helped in increasing the average speed by approximately 23% and also improved the fuel efficiency by about 8% of the trailing vehicles.

Honda has the goal of bringing this technology to the market and will begin the first public road testing of the technology in Indonesia and Italy in the months of July and May respectively. This will verify the effectiveness of the technology in minimising the vehicle congestion.

Asia Bizz: Japanese- based auto making giant Honda announced the development of a new technology known as the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on April 5, 2012. The new technology has been developed for mid-sized vehicles and it is reported to significantly enhance the driving performance as well as fuel economy.

The new technology is also the latest addition to the Earth Dreams Technology series of the revolutionary next generation technologies for automobiles. It was also announced on Thursday that the all new Step WGN and Step WGN Spada will be the first vehicles which will feature the new CVT.

The vehicles will also offer the highest fuel economy in its class. The new CVT technology will function as a means to enhance fuel economy and is compatible with an idle stop system; it also has a highly-efficient electric pump along with other features.

Moreover the new technology also features the G Design shift which is a new coordinated system for gearing, throttle and hydraulic control. The new technology also helps the vehicle to respond quickly to the driver input and maintains a strong and smooth acceleration.

The Earth Dreams Technology was announced by Honda in the year 2011. It is a series of next generation technologies for automobiles that significantly enhances driving performance and fuel economy.

Honda Motors to Recall 24,000 CR-V Sport Vehicles in China

Asia Bizz: Japanese- based car making giant Honda Motor Co Ltd will recall more than 24,000 CR-V sport utility vehicles in China. The company will start recalling the vehicles from April 12, 2012 to fix a wiring problem that is likely to cause the cars low-beam headlights to stop working.

The recall will affect Honda’s 15,411 CR-V SUVs made in China between April 14, 2004 and March 23, 2005. It will also affect 9,197 CR-V models which were manufactured between January 23, 2002 and Nov 5 2003.

The information of the recall from the company was revealed in a statement by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The company said that the CR-V electric wire connected to the headlight switch is in sufficient in length, due to which it might wear down. Such a problem could result in overheating and eventually lead to a switch malfunction and also a loss of low beam headlights, this increases the risk of crash.

The company said that it will inspect and replace the parts of the defected headlight wiring system. Honda added that it will do it free of cost and the letters will be mailed to the affected owners of CR-Vs. Customers can also contact their service providers for service appointments.

Honda announces price rise post hike in excise duty

Asia Bizz: After the hike in the excise duty in the Budget 2012-13, Honda Siel Cars India has announced on March 21, 2012 that it has increased the prices of all the models by up to Rs 93,975. The company also intimated that the new prices are effective by March 17, 2012.

The price of the entry level hatchback Brio will be increased by Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the variants. So the new Brio will now be available at the price between Rs 3.99 lakhs and Rs 5.2 lakhs ex showroom Delhi.

Even the premium compact car Jazz has been hit by the recent Budget and will now cost between Rs 5.75 lakhs and Rs 6.31 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, as it has been made costlier by Rs 14,972 to Rs 15,000. The popular mid-sized sedan City will be priced between Rs 7.1 lakh and Rs 10.33 lakh ex-showroom Delhi after the prices have been hiked by Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,500.

India’s Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee increased the excise duty to 12 percent from 10 percent. The hike has been set according to the petrol cars with the engines under 1,200 cc and diesel cars with the capacity under 1,500 cc.

Asia Bizz: Japanese motor company Honda Motors announced that it will be launching the new Honda Moto LINC on March 14, 2012. The new LINC is a membership-based service for Honda motorcycle owners in Japan.

The company said that it will be launching the service on April 12, 2012 in Japan. This will be a free service available for smartphone users; it has been developed for the Honda motorcycle owners Honda Moto LINC and is based on the Internavi LINC navigation system.

The system is currently available to Honda automobile owners in Japan. All the Honda Motorcycle owners in Japan with a smartphone can download the application and get registered as a member on the exclusive website and start using the service.

High precision traffic information is used in the Internavi car navigation system of Honda. The Honda Moto LINC offers the service to calculate riding routes and the Driving information service so as to search for the ideal touring locations. The features also include the Rain Gear Alarm service to alert the rider when rainfall is forecast.

Honda Launches CBR 150R for Indian market

Asia Bizz: Japanese Motor giant Honda has launched its much awaited CBR 150R in the Indian market on March 16, 2012. The company earlier unveiled the bike at the 2012 Auto Expo held in the month of January in the Indian capital – Delhi.

The new CBR 150R will be competing against other leading bikes in the market like the Yamaha R15 and the newly launched Bajaj KTM Duke 200. Honda has priced the new CBR 150R at Rs 1.16 lakh ex showroom.

Honda launches fresh edition of CBR250R in Indian market

Asia Bizz: Motorcycle manufacturing giant Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India (HMSI) has recently launched the new edition of its premium bike CBR 250 R in the Indian market. The new motorcycle has been priced between Rs 1.45 lakhs and Rs 1.70 lakhs.

NK Rattan, the HMSI vice president of sales, corporate affair and marketing, in a statement, said that with global styling, high performance and advanced technology at a very affordable price, the new CBR250R has become the favorite of bike enthusiasts in the country.

Rattan added that they have further enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the CBR250R and introduced the new pearl heron blue tri-color so as to cater to the expectations of young Indians.

It has been a year since the launch of the Honda CBR250R in the Asian country and it has caught the fancy of plenty of bike enthusiasts in the country.

The new color scheme has been added so as to mark the first anniversary of the bike on Indian roads. It has been inspired by the globally successful VFR1200F as well as CBR1000RR Fireblade superbikes. The other features that stand out include the combined anti-lock braking system for safety, electronically controlled fuel injection technology, responsive DOHC engine and an aerodynamic layered style fairing.

Honda to launch new CBR 150 R in India in March

Asia Bizz: In some good news for all bike enthusiasts, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is all set to launch its new sports bike CBR 159R in the Indian market in March 2012. The new CBR 150 R of the Japanese subsidiary is priced at Rs 1]000.
The new bike from Honda will be locking horns with Bajaj’s KTM Duke 200 which is priced at Rs 117,000. The new KTM Duke 200 bike was launched by Bajaj last month.

Honda’s CBR 150 R is the third offering from the company this year and will be competing with Bajaj and also the Yamaha R15. In terms of specifications, the new CBR has better ground clearance, better power, bigger dimension and bigger fuel tank than the Yamaha bike.

With the launch of the new CBR 150 R, the company hopes to sell more than 3,500 units within a month. Honda had even showcased the new bike at the Auto Expo 2012 held last month in New Delhi, where it received a strong response.

Moreover, the company also has in store a revamped version of its CBR 250R which will be launched later this month. Honda at present has a 14 percent market share on the two wheeler market in India.

Honda to unveil 1.6 litre diesel engine next month

Asia Bizz: Japan based motor company Honda has recently confirmed that it will be unveiling its much awaited small capacity diesel engine during the Geneva Motor Show next month. The company is all set to unveil its 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine, which will be first featured in the new Euro spec Honda Civic and will be included in the new Indian Civic by the end of 2012.

The new engine by Honda is one of the new generations engines to appear in the upcoming years under the ‘Earth Dreams’ technology of Honda. It is a 1,596 cc engine which will have the capacity of producing 120PS max power at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of max torque at 2,000 rpm.

The best thing about the engine is its light weight and the company claims that it will be the lightest engine in its class, which weighs less than a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Meanwhile, the company is yet to unveil the average fuel consumption figures.

Honda also state that the CO2 emissions will be below 100g/km. Last week, it was reported that Honda will be introducing diesel variants of the Brio by the month of October/ November 2012 in the Indian market.
