More competition has surfaced in the Indian tablet market after IT hardware and electronic products company Intex Technologies has announced a regional launch of its i-Buddy tablet which runs on the Android operating system. The new product has been launched in India so as to set a target of generating Rs. 1,000 crore turnover in 2012-13.

Last year the turn over of the company was Rs. 779 crore. Sanjay Kumar, the Intex general manager said, “It had set an ambitious target of becoming a Rs. 1,000 crore company in FY 2012-13″.

Kumar during the launch event said that the company aims at selling 60,000 tablets this year. They will also be launching their 3G tablet in the month of August.

Intex Technologies is aiming to generate revenues of Rs. 400 crores from the mobile business in FY 2012-13 and expect 15 percent revenue to come from south Indian markets. Kumar added, “South India is one of the largest markets for technology products with 26 percent of India’s mobiles being sold here. It is definitely a potential market for Intex as well”. The features of the tablet include, 7 inch capacitive touch screen display, Android 4.0 operating system, not facing camera for video chat, 4GB internal memory and 3G dongle support.
