South Korean giant Samsung Electronics will soon be unveiling the next generation of its popular Galaxy Note smartphone. The company will be unveiling smartphone at an event on August 29, 2012 about two weeks before the probable debut of Apple’s new iPhone.

The two devices are expected to face each other and compete in a market which is equally dominated by both the respective companies. A spokesperson from Samsung on August 3, 2012 said, “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29”, however, he did not reveal much details.

The event is expected to take place two days before the opening of Europe’s biggest consumer electronics trade fair. Some of the South Korean media reports speculated that the new Galaxy Note might feature an unbreakable 5.5 inch display which is slightly larger than the current one and is also a faster processor and a much better camera.

Samsung, which was once not that popular in the smartphone market overtook Apple last year and became the world’s largest smartphone maker. In the month of May the company launched its flagship Samsung Galaxy S III while even Apple is planning to launch a major product on September 12, 2012.
