Nicolas Maduro, the acting president of Venezuela, after the death of the president Hugo Chavez, said that his body will be out on permanent display. On March 7, 2013, while addressing the Venezuelans, the acting president said, ‘He belongs to you’.
The embalmed body of Chavez will be permanently put on display in a glass crystal casket, so that his people can always have him. Maduro announced that the remains of the late resident will be put up at the Museum of the Revolution.
The body will be showcased near the presidential palace, where Chavez had ruled for 14 years. The acting president informed that the body of the late Chavez will lie in this state for at least another seven days. Maduro said, “You will see the commandante. He belongs to you”.
The state funeral for Chavez was attended by about 33 heads of the government and was supposed to begin on March 8, 2013, at 11 am local time. Thousands of people had already filed past his glass-topped casket at a military academy, after a seven-hour procession on March 5, 2013. The body of the late president was transported from the hospital where he passed away. Chavez was dressed in his army uniform as he was laid down in his casket.
