Beverage manufacturing giant PepsiCo India said on April 25 , 2013, that it has launched a new product called Pepsi Atom, in an expansion of its cola portfolio. The company has also roped in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput as its brand ambassador. The latest product is the second mainstream cola from PepsiCo India, after the flagship brand Pepsi.


A statement from the company added, “Created for the Indian market, in collaboration with PepsiCo’s global innovation team, it is a result of extensive flavour development and consumer testing in the country”. The new Pepsi Atom is available across the country in various packages, including a 250ml can, at an introductory price of Rs. 15 and a 500ml  bottle, which will retail at Rs. 25. Gautham Mukkavilli, the PepsiCo India CEO, while commenting on the development, said that it was of great significance that a second mainstream cola has been developed for the Indian consumers.

Mukkavilli went on to say that the Pepsi Atom is the biggest launch in recent times and that they are committed to investing in the brand, so as to make it a key player in the carbonated beverage segment. The Pepsi Atom is also available in 200ml returnable glass bottles and is available in selected markets at Rs. 10. Deepika Warrier, the vice president of marketing at PepsiCo India, said that the new Pepsi Atom is in response to consumer need for having a stronger and fizzier cola.
