China-based computer manufacturing giant Lenovo hired the American actor and producer Ashton Kutcher as its product engineer. Kutcher will now be helping the company to develop and promote the Yoga series tablets.

Sources familiar with the development said that Lenovo is most likely going to reveal the AK brand products in 2014, which will feature design ideas of the Hollywood actor. The chief marketing officer at Lenovo, David Roman in a news conference in Los Angeles said that the ‘Jobs’ star will be offering his input when it comes to specifications, design, software and usage scenarios.

Lenovo is all set to launch its new tablet in the Chinese market on November 1, 2013. With the recent development, the company is hoping that it will help in boosting its efforts against the biggest competitors, Samsung and Apple. The tablet shipment of Lenovo during the second quarter of 2013 is far behind the two giants.

Lenovo delivered 1.5 million tablets across the globe during that period, while Apple produced 14.6 million. Research firm IDC has noticed that Lenovo’s 300-percent-plus year-on-year growth rate has given it stronger momentum, compared to other companies.
