Internet giant Yahoo on November 25, 2013 made a major announcement and named American talk show host Katie Couric as the face of its digital news brand. The California-based company has hired the famous newscaster, who is a well-known name in the world of American television and has hosted programs on three top broadcast networks in the United States.

Yahoo issued a statement which said, “Couric is joining the company as Global Anchor, as part of Yahoo’s ongoing commitment to re-imagine how news and information is delivered and consumed”. Marissa Mayer, the chief executive of Yahoo said that Couric will be the leader of a growing team of correspondents at Yahoo News and will help in covering the most interesting stories around the world.

Mayer in a blog post said that Couric has a huge experience when it comes to the coverage of natural disasters, the Royal Wedding, historic elections and groundbreaking interviews. Meanwhile, the 56-year-old will continue to host her daytime TV talk show ‘Katie’, in addition to being the face of Yahoo News.

The TV host will begin her work on Yahoo News in early 2014 and will help in reshaping coverage for the online giant.
