The biggest Internet company in China by market capitalization, Tencent Holdings officially unveiled the latest business brand, titled Interactive Entertainment on April 16, 2014. The new brand has been launched in order to improve the company’s entertainment offerings in the mobile Internet segment.

The latest brand joins three other business groups which include animation, online literature, as well as comics and gaming and represents a new beginning of the Shenzhen-based company’s entertainment strategy. Cheng Wu, the vice-president of Tencent at a press conference said that the Internet has managed to change the way people entertain themselves.

The vice president went on to explain that people can read books, play games whenever they want and wherever they want so there is a clear boundary between life and entertainment. Cheng added, “With the growing popularity of mobile Internet, people’s demand for entertainment will be boosted and the entertainment business is entering a golden era.” The recent move by the company will combine the strength of the online literature, gaming and animation with the leading position in the gaming industry of the country.
