Asia Bizz: Sharp Corp is being forced to stop and suspend their production of LCD panels which are used in televisions. This suspension on productions is done at plants situated in Osaka and Mie in Japan. There is a huge shortage of components as well as industrial gas since the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.
This is not the only shortage of parts that Japan is facing due to the earthquake and tsunami. Many other factories and companies are facing similar problems in Japan due to the destruction caused by the tsunami and earthquake. Sharp has still managed to continue its assembly of LCD television, and they hope they suffer no more hitches in production.
Another reason for the suspension of these flat panel televisions is because the government of Japan has suggested that the people buy appliances that are environmentally friendly.
Sharp Corp said that they will only resume production of these LCD panel production in the month of May after the Golden Week Holiday. The company will resume their production at the Sakai plant in Sakai, as well as the Kameyama plant.
