Asia Bizz: In some good news for Indian passengers who complain about auto-rickshaw drivers who refuse to travel short distances, rickshawale.com is here to the rescue. The new service has been launched on 13th October 2011 and has become Mumbai’s first dial a rickshaw service.

The service is available online 24 X 7 and can be availed by just paying Rs. 20 extra. The passengers can call on 022-25747474, to book an auto rickshaw.

The three founders of the unique service have said that the service is not only consumer-driven, but will also ensure some business for Mumbai’s booming auto-rickshaw drivers. More than 300 auto drivers have been selected out of 500 applications after careful screening of the documents, driving skills and checking family backgrounds.

Auto driver Kailash Londhe was among the first ones to be registered at the Mankhurd Station. Londhe was happy about the new service and said that this is an added income for them and it will also ensure that they would have customers through the day. The passengers have to call on the number and specify their destination, which is then fed on the site. The nearest auto drivers are then informed via SMS and the fastest one to respond is provided with the name and address of the passenger and the passenger too is provided with the details of the auto driver with phone number.
