The North American International Auto Show being held at Detroit, USA has motor enthusiasts from around the world looking forward to the latest in automotive technology. The North American Car of the Year was chosen to be the 2013 Cadillac ATS, while Chrysler’s 2013 Ram 1500 pickup was the top pick for the North American Truck/Utility of the Year.
The auto show seats a panel of 49 judges, comprised of experts in the field, including broadcasters, auto writers and editors as well. The Pentastar V-6 equipped powertrain on the 2013 Ram caught the judge’s eye, as did the great styling on the 2013 Cadillac.
Bob Fergusen, who is the GM vice president of Global Cadillac said that winning the award was a meaningful honor for the designers and builders of the vehicle and that focus and commitment form the basis of creating a world-class luxury vehicle.
The CEO of Ram, Fred Diaz, was of the opinion that increased competition pushed his team to create the Ram 1500 and that the win was comparable to a three-point buzzer beater. This win was also the third victory for auto manufacturer Chrysler in the category of truck or car of the year.
The Ford C-Max and Mazda CX-5 were other competitors for Truck of the Year, whereas the Honda Accord and Ford Fusion also ran for Car of the Year.
