Tech giant Apple is releasing a malware removal tool after several cases of malware infections. The recent move has been taken by Apple after several Mac systems were infected by computer hackers.
The decision to release the malware tool was taken a week after social networking site Facebook revealed that it had been a victim of a similar attack. Some Apple computers belonging to workers were infected by unknown hackers.
The computers were attacked when the users visited a website for software developers, which had been infected by malicious software. The new malware has been designed to attack Mac computers. it is believed that the same software was used to launch attacks against the social networking site Facebook.
However, Apple assured that so far there has been no indication that any data has been compromised and that it was working with authorities in the US to investigate the incident. The tech giant, in a statement said, “Apple has identified malware which infected a limited number of Mac systems through a vulnerability in the Java plug-in for browsers.” The statement added that the malware was employed in an attack against Apple and other companies. It is also believed that the infection had spread across the website for software developers.
