A Chinese expert recently said that the relations between Japan and China are not likely to improve in the near future. The indication for this statement came after the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe delivered a speech to Japan's parliament on October 15, 2013.
Abe was speaking during the extra session of the parliament and vowed to go ahead with his plans to improve the defense of Japan, due to the increasingly insecure environment. In his speech, the Prime Minister of Japan said that he will be establishing a security council within his office, which will serve as a diplomatic and defense command centre and the recent move is expected to be approved by lawmakers during the 53-day discussion.
Abe also said that the country's coast guard officers and Self-Defence Forces currently stationed around the Diaoyu Islands are facing reality at the moment. The PM went on to say that they cannot afford to disregard reality and the security environment is becoming even more severe. The director of the Institute of Japanese Studies at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Hu Jiping said that the administration of Abe is using China as a reason behind its military build-up.
In addition to that, the Prime Minister of Japan is reportedly seeking a way to enable Japanese defense troops to fight when its allies are under attack.
