Laptop manufacturer HCL has launched its newest tablet for the Indian market, known as the Me Champ, which is priced at Rs. 7,999. The latest tablet is meant for children between the ages of 3 and 12 and it was listed at an online retailer for Rs. 7,399.
The new Me Champ for children runs on 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1GHz Cortex processor, has Mali-400 GPU, as well as 1 GB of RAM. Other features of the device include a 7-inch display with 800×480 pixels resolution, 2-megapixel rear camera, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, 4 GB of in-built storage which can be expanded additionally up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card.
The connectivity features of the device include Wi-Fi, Mini-HDMI and 3G through dongle. As Me Champ is meant for children, it comes pre-loaded with content such as children’s videos, comics, games, knowledge and music. The tablet also has exercises in subjects like art, geography, history language and mathematics.
HCL has mentioned that the device offers free access to over 500 apps under categories like books, games and education and to all the videos under the kids TV segment. The tablet also comes with tracking features, which will help parents to monitor children's activities.
