FIFA doles out nine-match ban for Luis Suarez.
Uruguay’s ace footballer Luis Suarez has been banned for nine matches and is out of the FIFA World Cup 2014. The striker has been slapped with the ban for biting Italian footballer – opponent team mate – Giorgio Chiellini.
Moreover, the soccer governing body said that the Uruguay based footballer has also been banned from any football based activity or from entering any football stadium for the next four months.
This also means that the Liverpool club striker will miss out the beginning of the Premiere League and the Champions League Session. The recent ban on Suarez has become the biggest ban to be ever imposed by FIFA at a World Cup. Luis will also be missing the remaining World Cup matches and all the 2015 Copa America matches in Chile.
The ban has further ordered the footballer -who lost his world cup accreditation – out of the Uruguayan team’s hotel as his team mates head to Rio-de-Janeiro for their upcoming match.
The player boarded a private plane in Natal along with his wife, two children and an official from the Uruguayan Football Association.
FIFA said that Suarez had breached two articles of the FIFA code relating to assault and unsporting behavior towards another player on the field.
Lawyer Jorge Barrera said that they will appeal the ban on Suarez who has already gone through lengthy suspensions for biting opponents while playing at club level.
