Asus to unveil its new smartwatch at the IFA in Berlin this September.
On Tuesday, August 19, 2014, Asus cleared much of the air surrounding their new product that will be launched at the IFA in Berlin on September 3, 2014. They tweeted a picture, revealing “Something #Incredible is going to happen at the #IFA2014, see you there!”. Much has been talked about the Asus Smartwatch in the last few months and this tweet confirms all those rumors.
The graphic coupled with the quote in the tweet suggest that the new product will indeed be a smartwatch. Like the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live, this device will also be powered by Android Wear. According to a source at Techcrunch.com, the device will come with an AMOLED display tech, while hardware will be similar to the LG and Samsung devices.
Where Asus is likely to come out on top of its competition is its price, which reportedly will be much lesser than the existing smartwatches.
The month of September is all set to be abuzz, as several tech-giants are preparing to launch their products. Motorola is planning on launching a range of hardware on September 4, 2014, while of course, Apple’s new iPhone is scheduled for launch on September 9 – which usually hogs up all the limelight.
While the iPhone launch usually garners all the media attention, it is not the only thing that Asus has to be wary of – the Motorola Moto 360, a round-faced Android Wear smartwatch is also a potential competition for the South-Korean IT company.
