Asia Bizz: BMW has stepped into the market with the latest 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which will be used in a number of its vehicles in India. It is a 2.0L four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which will replace the existing 3.0L six cylinder engines  — which are installed in several BMW models.
The new engine has been unveiled in India because the company plans to use these engines in most of the BMW models in the Asian country. BMW will launch this engine with the BMW 1-Series, BMW X3, 3-Series, Z4 roadster and 5-Series cars. The construction of the engine program was codenamed N20.
It is also the first turbocharged petrol engine from BMW which uses four cylinders, because turbo-charging engines always need higher engine capacity. The latest feature in the engine is the VALVETRONIC variable valve controlling system. It will produce a peak power of 245 horses, and is said to have better emission and fuel economy compared to the current 3.0L engine.
