Search engine giant Google has now started a new drive in India to create awareness among the people about the importance of the usage of internet. A bus will be run by the search engine through the state of Bengal in India from November 25, 2011.

Vinay Goel the Director of Google India said that the internet bus was started in the month of February 2009 and now the bus is all set to tour the state. Goel added that they hope to create awareness about the internet as they believe that constant effort would enable the common man to utilize the knowledge.

The target of Google is to familiarize the first time users with the internet as the bus will be posted at the public places and also outside the schools. Apart from the capital Kolkata, the bus would also travel to Kharagpur, Asansol, Ulberia, Durgapur, Haldia, Chandannagar, Purulia and Bankura.

Goel shared that the bus has already travelled 11 states and has covered 130 towns and touch more than 6.5 million people. As a result of the campaign by Google, they found that some 30 percent of the internet bus users have now started using the internet. At present 82 million people in India use internet out of which 37 percent are from the smaller towns.
