Asia Bizz: Indian telecom operator Bharti Airtel has recently launched its first online self care service. The new service by the telecom operator will enable the prepaid subscribers to get itemized bills, subscribe to value added services and manage their accounts.
The company issued a statement which said that the Airtel prepaid mobile customers can visit the new self care website to receive and activate customized offers on ‘my Airtel, my offer’. The statement added that subscribers can view tariffs, top up options, request for itemized bills and more.
Bharti Airtel has become the first company to introduce such a service after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India issued , ‘Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations 2012’ on January 6, 2012. The regulation asked the operators to provide itemized bills at a price not exceeding Rs 50.
Till recently, it wasn’t mandatory for the companies to provide itemized bills to prepaid customers. Moreover, companies did not have any documentary records of the phone usage. The telecom operators were also directed to provide details of the tariff plans, available balance and details of the value added services activated. The Airtel prepaid subscribes have to register themselves on Airtel’s website by submitting their prepaid number and a password that will be sent to the mobile number.
