Asia Bizz: The top manufacturer of Apple’s iPhones and iPads, Foxconn Technology Group, has recently increased the wages of its workers by 16-25 percent. The factories of the company are under scrutiny over the labor practices and the increase of the wages is the third rise since 2010.

The company released a statement on February 17, 2012, which stated that the pay of the junior level worker in Shenzhen, southern China has risen to 1,800 yuan per month. The statement added that the payment can be further increased up to 2,200 yuan of the worker passed a technical examination.

The company also stated that the workers were paid 900 yuan a month three years back. The statement further added that as the top manufacturing company in China, the basic salary of the junior workers in all the Foxconn’s China factories is already higher than the minimum wage set by the local governments.

The company also assured that they will provide more training opportunities and learning time and will constantly enhance the technology, salary and efficiency so that they set a good example for the Chinese manufacturing industry. The development in the Foxconn industries has been announced when the industry came under scrutiny after a series of suicides among the young workers.
