Asia Bizz: A year after the launch of the Fiesta sedan, Ford India on February 28, 2012 hinted that it might go in for a price cut on the model. The price cut might be introduced with the introduction of the lower spec variant.

Nigel Wark, the sales and marketing director of Ford India said that while they sold the car on its technology and capability, the perception is that they do not have an entry point at Rs 8.23 lakh – which is the Delhi ex showroom price of the base variant. Wark added that the other competing models from brands like Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen were priced lower than the Fiesta.

This is the reason the company is reportedly thinking over new ways to push the brand ahead in the market. Wark added that they will be reviewing a whole range of options.

Customers have an added option for Fiesta with the introduction of an automatic version of the petrol engine model. The new variant of the vehicle is priced between Rs 8.99 lakhs and Rs 9.7 lakhs.

In the last ten months, the company has faced a 4 percent downfall in the sales of its vehicles in the Indian market. Ford is also thinking of slowing down its investments in the country.
