Asia Bizz: With the growing popularity of the small car segment in the Indian market, Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi plans to enter the small car segment in the country. The company hopes to go ahead with the tried and tested formula of launching a small car here.
At present, Mitsubishi has a tie-up with Hindustan Motors with the help of whom the company assembles and markets its products in the country. The range of products of the company in India include Cedia, Lancer, Outlander, Pajero and Montero.
Despite the fact that products of the company score high in terms of performance and other technical aspects, they have not really proved themselves successful when compared to the other products in the market. Mitsubishi has not been able to make its mark due to various reasons like limited sales, unavailability of spare parts and service network.
Now the company is keen on looking in to the matter and is all set to grab a bigger share in the market which is considered as the world’s second fastest growing auto market. Mitsubishi is now planning to introduce its hatchback Mirage in India, but before that it will be concentrating on developing dealer and service network.
