Asia Bizz: Popular social networking site Twitter has recently announced that it has acquired the blogging platform Posterous. It is a start up firm in the mobile blogging business, but the company has not yet disclosed the amount of the purchase.

In a blog post, the social networking site said that Posterous engineers, product managers and others will join their team and will be working on various key initiatives that will made the social networking site even better. The blog post added that the Posterous team has built an innovative product that makes sharing across the web and mobile devices simple.

Talking about the deal, Twitter said that the acquisition has given the company people and technology, which will help them build a better Twitter for its users. Posterous was found in the year 2008 and is a mobile blogging platform which allows users to use smartphones to post pictures, audio, videos, etc and share them with others.

Sachin Agarwal, the CEO and founder of Posterous said that the opportunities in front of Twitter are exciting and that they could not be happier about bringing their team’s expertise to a product that reaches millions of users around the globe. The CEO also clarified that the Posterous Spaces will remain up and running without any interruption.
