Asia Bizz: Indian cellular service provider Tata Docomo has recently announced the launch of its new Photon Max service in the IT city of Bengaluru, in the state of Karnataka. The new service offers speeds of up to 6.2 Mbps through its CDMA network.

The Tata Photon Plus offers up to just 3.1 Mbps speed and the best part is that the max speed of the new service is closer to the GSM 3G service offer.

At present, the maximum 3G speed currently offered is 21 Mbps and most of the plans only offer just 7.2 Mbps. Apart from Bangalore, the service is also now available in 17 other Indian cities including Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Delhi, Hyderabad, Vadodara, Mundra, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Chennai and Kanpur.

The Photon Max dongles are available at Rs 1,999 with a double benefit of unlimited plan for customers when they get a flat bill cap of Rs 1,000 every month through which the customers can utilize 6 GB data at up to 6.2 Mbps speed in the first three months. The subscribers will later get 3GB from the 4th month onwards. The company said that the Photon Max operates at the frequency of 800 MHz that gives you a superior indoor connectivity.
