Asia Bizz: The atmosphere on Sunday, March 18, 2012 was charged in Mirpur as it witnessed arch rivals India and Pakistan taking on each other in a battle to the finish. The credit of the magnificent win of the Indian cricket team against Pakistan – in Dhaka at the Asia Cup match – undoubtedly went to Virat Kohli. Kohli smashed 183 runs off just 148 balls, while chasing the target set by Pakistan at 330 runs and delivered India from the clutches of the strong Pakistan cricket team.
Virat was the man because of whom it became a cake walk for the Indian team to reach the target set by the Pakistan team on March 18, 2012. With the win against Pakistan, the Indians maintained the hope of reaching the Asia Cup 2012 finals.
The Indian team won the match by six wickets, with 13 balls to spare. Rohit Sharma made 68, while the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar pulled off 52 runs.
On Sunday, Kohli seemed unstoppable and swept 22 boundaries and one six, while Tendulkar and Sharma faced the Pakistani bowlers with each hitting five fours and a six.
However, Pakistan has qualified for the Asia Cup final on March 22, 2012 as they earlier beat Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in previous rounds. For the Indians, it wasn’t a good journey at the Asia Cup as they suffered a loss against Bangladesh on Friday.
In the first innings, Pakistan seemed threatening as the partnership of Nasir Jamshed and Mohammed Hafeez was unbreakable until the 36th over and with the way they were hammering runs, they seemed like the clear winners; until Kohli came and saved the Boys in Blue.
