Asia Bizz: A massive earthquake of magnitude of 7.4 hit central and southern Mexico on March 20, 2012. The quake damaged more than 800 homes near the epicentre and also swayed tall buildings which spread fear and panic in the capital Mexico city.

This was one of the strongest quakes in Mexico since the 1985 tremor which claimed thousands of lives in Mexico City. The earthquake hit hardest at the border area of southern Oaxaca and Guerrero states. The earthquake even collapsed a pedestrian bridge on an empty transit bus.

Across the city, workers and residents poured in to the streets of the capital and even the telephone service were down.

There were no reports of major damage or any loss of life.
