Asia Bizz: German auto maker Audi recently revealed that it makes special horns for its vehicles sold in the Indian market. The director of Audi said that Indian drivers hoot so much that they fight their way through the massive traffic on the Indian roads.

Michael Perschke, director at Audi India that horns in INdia are a category themselves. He added, “You take a European horn and it will be gone in a week or two. With the amount of honking in Mumbai, we do on a daily basis what an average German does on an annual basis.”

It was further revealed that the horns are specifically designed for driving conditions in India. India is a booming market for luxury cars where Audi is one of the foreign car brands competing for the increasingly wealthy customers in the Asian nation.

The director revealed that the horn is tested differently with two continuous weeks of honking and the setting of horn is different with different suppliers. It was noted that many of the Audi owners in the country have chauffeurs due to which the car interiors have been redesigned so that the person at the rear seat can be more in command.
