Asia Bizz: South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai has launched new versions of its popular i20 in the Indian market. The new i20 has been launched in the compact car segment and is priced up to Rs 7.67 lakhs. Hyundai has brought the iGen i20 in place of the existing i20.
In a statement, Hyundai said that the petrol variant of the new version is priced between Rs 4.73 and Rs 6.65 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The price of the new variant is Rs 20,000 higher than the earlier version and the diesel variant of the new i20 is priced between Rs 5.96 lakhs and Rs 7.44 lakhs. The statement also added that there is an automatic variant of the car, which is priced at Rs 7.67 lakhs.
In regards to the engine of the new i20, the petrol variant is powered by a 1.2 litre engine, while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.4 litre engine.
BS Seo, the managing director and CEO of Hyundai Motors India Limited said that the company has incorporated the research findings in the new iGen i20 in order to meet high tech requirements, as well as innovative features required by customers.
Hyundai said that it has added features like the rear parking camera with display in the cabin mirror and the electro chromic mirror that offers anti glare vision during the night time.
The new 1.2 Kappa petrol engine has a dual variable valve timing and churns out power of 84 PS compared to the 80 PS power in the earlier version. Even the diesel variants are powered by the 90 PS 1.4 U2 CRDI diesel. But the company has reverted to a 6 speed unit instead of a 5 speed one. Some of the exterior changes include a hexagonal front grille and stylized headlights similar to that of Hyundai’s Fluidic design.
