Asia Bizz: Popular tablet maker HCL Infosystems launched 3 new tablets especially for the student community on April 2, 2012 in the Indian market. The tablets start from the price range of Rs. 7,999.
The company revealed that it has managed to corner 15 % of the Indian tablet market with the launch of its first tablet Me Tab. The Me Tab was launched by HCL last year and was priced at Rs. 10,999.
Gautam Advani, the HCL Infosystems EVP and head of mobility said that within five months, the company has a market share of 15 %. Advani added that with the recent gadget, they expect to continue to keep their market share steady in the tablet segment, which is highly competitive.
The new HCL tablet comes loaded with many features – the new U1 seven inch 3G and Wi Fi tablet, runs in the popular Android 4 operating system and comes pre-loaded with around 17 applications which includes games, jobs, social networking and music. The MyEduTab is available in two versions out of which the K12 version comes with K12 curriculum, games, applications, videos and eBooks and is priced at Rs. 11,499.
The tablet for higher education is packed with content and is priced at Rs. 9,999.
