Asia Bizz: The popular Maruti Suzuki 800 model by the Indian auto giant ruled the Indian market for almost three decades. But since the market has become more competitive, the company will be introducing a replacement model of the Maruti 800.
Reports say that Maruti Suzuki is expected to unveil the replacement before the month of December this year, but the new model will be introduced under a totally new brand.
The price of the new model is likely to be somewhere between Rs. 2.5 lakhs and Rs 3.5 lakhs and will feature the same F8D engine which was used in the Alto model. The new model will be an updated version and will be ready to compete with the new models that already exist in the market.
An official of the company said that a replacement for the 800 makes sense as it has been selling very aggressively at about 2,000 units per month. The official added that it will be a totally new car which will be based on an existing platform. It was also informed that the existing Alto models will also remain as they have strong volumes. Maruti Suzuki will focus more on fuel-efficiency and low maintenance features as the core conceerns.
