Asia Bizz: Indian telecom company Bharti Airtel will launch its TD LTE services in Kolkata on April 10, 2012. With the new launch, the telecom company will become the first telecom operator in the country to launch high-speed 4G broadband.
The Indian telecom company recently revealed it has selected ZTE Corporation as its telecom equipment partner for the launch of the 4G services in Kolkata. With the help of the new service, users can get access to high-speed wireless Internet which can also support bandwidth-intensive applications, along with video streaming and high definition video conferencing. The TD-LTE network will be deployed by Bharti Airtel in the 2.3 GHz frequency band, which has been allocated by the Indian government for the broadband wireless access technologies.
Airtel will also be supported by ZTE in the plan, design and the supply of its 4G network in Kolkata. Industry estimates have mentioned that by the year 2016, 6 percent of all mobile phone connections will have 4G connection, which will create 36 percent of the total mobile data traffic.
Earlier this year, Airtel announced LTE services for the state of Maharashtra.
