Asia Bizz: Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter a new segment with its first multi-purpose vehicle Ertiga. The company will be launching the new vehicle on April 12, 2012.
Maruti Suzuki has built the new vehicle on the Swift Platform and will be competing against other models in the segment like Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova. The surprising part is that the Ertiga looks similar to Ritz and Swift and is more of an extended wheelbase variant of both.
In terms of the interiors, there are three rows of seating with dual-tone upholstery on the steering wheel, in addition to audio controls on it. The middle and the third row passengers have air vents embedded in the roof liner above the front row.
With the latest model in the segment, the company has also ensured it has involved every possible feature in it to make it the best in the segment. The company is offering two engine options in Ertiga – the first is the 1.4 litre K series petrol engine which produces 95PS and a 1.3 litre DDiS engine which delivers the power of 90PS. Both the engines come with a 5 speed manual box.
