Asia Bizz: The much awaited Xperia S handset has been launched in the Indian market by Sony Mobile India. With the launch the smartphone, it has become the first one to be launched under the banner Sony Mobile Communications after Sony acquired Telefonaktiebolaget LM, who have 50 percent stake in Ericsson.
The smartphone comes packed with a 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen and a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. At present, it runs on Android’s 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, but can be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The new Xperia S has been powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual core processor and features a 12.1 megapixel camera with auto focus, LED flash and 16x digital zoom. The new Sony smartphone also boasts a 1.3 mega pixel front camera for video calling and has 16 GB RAM.
Some of the important features of the smartphone include Wi Fi and Wi Fi Hot Spot functionality, DLNA certified, NFC and HDMI support. The new Xperia S is the second officially certified PlayStation device after Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
Users of the Xperia will also have access to the Play Station store and also all the content which is available on it.
